Excel Roofing Joins the Apartment Association of Metro Denver

Written by J Bretz | Jun 4, 2026 5:03:41 PM

Excel Roofing is now an official member of the Apartment Association of Metro Denver (AAMD). For a company that has spent more than thirty years on Colorado and Wyoming roofs, this is less a new direction and more a formal acknowledgment of work my team has been doing all along. We have been protecting apartment communities, condominium associations, and HOA properties across the Front Range for decades. Joining AAMD simply puts our name where our work already lives.

When J and Henry Bretz talked through the decision, the reasoning was straightforward. We have already been doing the work, so the membership made logical sense.

What the Apartment Association of Metro Denver Is

AAMD has served the Denver metro multifamily housing industry for more than fifty years. It began in 1968 as a small group of apartment owners who wanted to protect their interests, and it grew into a 501(c)(6) trade association federated with the National Apartment Association. Today it represents owners, managers, and supplier partners through legislative advocacy, education, professional development, and networking.

Its mission centers on enhancing member prosperity and professional growth, establishing and maintaining high professional standards, and protecting the multifamily housing industry. For the property professionals we work with, AAMD is a hub for staying current on the rules, trends, and best practices that shape how communities are run.

Why Membership Made Sense for Excel Roofing

Henry put it plainly when we discussed it. We have already been doing this work, so joining the association was the logical next step. Excel Roofing has handled multifamily and HOA roofing for the better part of three decades. We have re-roofed entire communities, managed phased installations across dozens of buildings, and coordinated with boards and property managers through every stage of a project.

Membership in AAMD formalizes a relationship with an industry we have served for years, and it commits us to the association's Code of Ethics. That means honesty, integrity, professionalism, and accountability on every property we touch. Those are not new values for us. They are the reason property managers keep calling us back.

Second Village East

A Track Record Across Front Range Communities

Our experience is not theoretical. A few examples of communities we have served:

  • Calmante in Superior, Colorado
  • 2nd Village East in Aurora, Colorado
  • Glenns of Cottonwood, a large-scale asphalt re-roof completed with Owens Corning shingles

These projects span the full range of multifamily work, from single-building repairs to fifteen-building tile re-roofs rated for extreme winds. Each one demanded the planning, documentation, and coordination that large community roofing requires, and each one strengthened our reputation with the boards and managers who trusted us with their properties.

What This Means for Property Managers and Owners

For the property professionals we partner with, our AAMD membership is a signal. It means Excel Roofing is accountable to an industry standard, connected to the latest best practices, and invested in the long-term health of the communities we serve.

When you hire us for a large roofing or exterior project, you get a partner who understands how multifamily work actually runs. That includes phased installation by building or section, advance written notices to tenants, tightly controlled staging areas, daily site cleanup, and a single point of contact for your management team. You also get HOA-ready documentation: detailed scope of work, itemized estimates, certificates of insurance, manufacturer warranty information, and pre- and post-install photos formatted for board meetings and reserve studies.

Built for Large and Complex Projects

Multifamily and commercial roofing is its own discipline, and it is the discipline we have built our team around. Our crews work in asphalt, concrete and clay tile, stone-coated steel, standing seam and corrugated metal, and flat membrane systems. We install and service skylights, snow retention, ventilation, and insulation, and we offer routine maintenance and 24/7 emergency leak response so small problems do not become large ones.

We have held Owens Corning Platinum Preferred status for decades, which allows us to back our work with some of the strongest warranties in the industry. Combine that with a dedicated in-house training division focused on specialty materials, and you have crews who are among the most skilled in the region.
