Our History

J Bretz founded Excel Roofing in 1993 with a simple standard: do the job right and stand behind it. More than three decades later, the company operates four offices, in Englewood and Colorado Springs, Colorado, and in Sheridan and Casper, Wyoming, and has completed more than 55,000 roofing and exterior projects for homeowners, HOAs, property managers, and businesses.

Excel Roofing remains family-owned and independent. Many roofing companies of a similar size have been acquired by private equity firms or outside investors. Excel Roofing has not, and the same family leadership that founded the company still makes its decisions.

Excel Roofing holds Owens Corning Platinum Preferred status, the highest contractor designation Owens Corning awards. J Bretz is an alumnus of the Owens Corning Platinum Advisory Board and the Colorado Roofing Association Board.

J Bretz, Founder and CEO

J Bretz founded Excel Roofing in 1993 and brings more than 33 years of roofing industry experience. He is an Owens Corning Platinum Advisory Board alumnus and a Colorado Roofing Association Board alumnus, and he is the voice behind much of Excel Roofing's homeowner education.

Dominic Herrera, General Manager

Dominic Herrera began his roofing career in 1999 and has served Excel Roofing as Production Manager, Sales Manager, and now General Manager. He oversees roofing operations across Colorado and Wyoming from the Englewood headquarters.
